Half Term Cocktail Launch

Well here are some of our mini 'Let them Eat Cake' team who have ditched the cake in favour of a fruit cocktail, whizzed up by Fergus (that's my boy in the glasses) and downed by his sister Erin (in the hat) and Rosy, Daniel and Joseph - who doesn't look too sure about the whole thing. In the midst of half term caous, Clare ('Let them eat Cake' of Mile End, London) and me (Carole -other half of LTEC in Leamington Spa) will be immersing ourselves in bloggers world - So raise a glass or eat a cupcake to celebrate my first little testy blog.

"Porcelain anarchy" and other lovely words

Its always lovely when you start up a business to see other people talking about your products, and we're very pleased that our vintage china cake stands have been picked up by some blogs of impeccable taste and style in the past week or so.

Retrotogo, the doyen of hip retro goods featured us here saying

"There aren’t many things more civilised than taking afternoon tea with cakes presented on a tiered cake stand. The wonderfully named Let Them Eat Cake specialise in making cake stands from vintage china"

We were then picked up by Hemfeber, a beautifully curated Swedish design blog, which featured our lovely stands here. Our Swedish is non existent, but using the Translator on the page we are described as

"...a little cute in a way that I get a sense of a grandmother who has lost a little grip"

and

"...completely porcelain anarchy"

which I think sums us up perfectly. In fact I think "Porcelain Anarchy" is a great name for a shop...

Last, but not least, Little Willow a US design blog picked us up here with a lovely write up.

Let them eat Cake at Handm@de Oxford

Saturday 9th November saw Let them eat Cake displaying our wares at the Handm@de Craft Fair in Oxford Town Hall. The town hall was a beautiful location, built in the reign of Queen Victoria, with a stunning ceiling and organ in the main hall adding a large slice of elegance to the proceedings.

The fair itself saw over 1300 people through the doors, and a lot of interest and lovely comments on our cake stands, with many of our leaflets given out on the day for our online shop.

What was truly amazing was the wealth and quality of handmade items presented by all the stall holders on the day - so much talent, so many beautiful items, that we had to be extremely careful in not blowing the bank as we picked up lots of lovely gifts. Meeting a lot of the other crafters on the day also led to some great discussions on other fairs, products and generally the love of everything handmade.

A big cakey thank you again to the organisers, especially Beccy (whose Moments by Martha shop is well worth checking out if you love beautiful jewelery)

Let them eat Cake Christmas Roadshow

We're going to be super busy over the next few weeks as we are ahowing our vintage china cake stands at a lot of events in London and the Midlands. We've made about 300 new cakestands so there will be lots to see, and we'll get them onto our shop and our Flickr photostream very soon, but in the meantime, check your diaries and see if you can make any of the events below - it'll be lovely to see you there, and give you an opportunity to see our vintage cakestands in the flesh so to speak, and perhaps pick one up for that extra special Christmas present you've been searching for...
