I've been meaning to tell you about a fantastic event that saw our china and cake stands wheeled out in all it's shiny glory. Rachel Spivey, wedding and burlesque photographer extraordinaire threw open her doors of her new photography studio and popped the champagne and piled the 'Sweet As' cakes high for the launch of her new photography studio.
She has a great style, manner and an eye for the detail which captures special wedding or family moments. When my link issue is sorted I'll blog her details, meanwhle google her name and you'll easily find her and enjoy the show.
Well our final china creation has happened for the year thanks to Clare's wonderful parents Nigel and Glenys. Not only did they allow me to cover their lawn with thousands of pieces of china, but fed and watered me with oodles of tea and G & T's. And of course every meal was a sight to behold as they produced a dazzling display of their own collections. My favourite of I think the 7 tea services was the one below for it's sheer brightness and boldness.
So although I now have a hundred new gorgeous stands which I'm eager to get onto the Let them eat Cake website, I'm going to have to be patient and wait a while. I've been putting off our house restoration job for quite a while. But now the heating is slowly packing up and the spiders are gathering force; it's time to get the builders in. So I'll let you know when the builders are out and more cake stand posting can begin..
Right now at Harvey Nichols, and they are sat upon our very own 'Let them eat Cake' stands, made specially for them.
The cupcakes are from Rachael Nimenko, in her mix is work with those of the Michelin stars brigade, the creation of her own company 'Pudding Cook' and cupcakes you'll never have seen or tasted the like of around here.
Sticky Toffee Pudding, Chocolate dipped Strawberry, Vanilla and Marshmallow and Raspberry and Lemon swirl.. all of course exclusive..treat yourself, treat a friend or treat a dad this Sunday..
Hobbs have just taken 'Let them eat Cake' stands on an outing to the John Lewis partnerhip in Peterborough and Welwyn Garden City. What could be better than inspired shopping and cake - let vintage heaven and upcycling run a little further..sheer bliss.
Vintage at Goodwood celebrates 5 decades of British Cool on the 13th-15th August. This new summer festival is the brainchild of designers Gerardine Hemingway MBE, Wayne Hemingway MBE – who started their business selling and customising second hand clothes and are now co-owners of Britain’s premier collection of cultural artefacts.
Think of Vintage at Goodwood as the new annual Festival of Britain. Whether it’s Swing, Rockabilly, Mod, Soul, Funk, Disco, Ska, Electro, Burlesque, Film or Art & Design that’s your thing, whether you just want to dress up and get an authentic ‘flat top’ and make-over for a day, Vintage at Goodwood will be visual, responsible, aural and sensual, a big family dressing up box, a collectors dream and a joyous creative feast for all ages.
So time to dust down your tent or book one of their very stylish yurts and head to the South Downs. Amidst all this fun and frivolity will be some serious WI cake, cream teas and china...I'm still working out wether Let them eat Cake should tootle down there too...
