Cake Stand News Flash!
This little beauty will be taking a starring role on 'Market Kitchen' a television programme on the Good Food Channel, tonight between 7 and 8pm. Our cake stands have been selected by none other than Jo wood, from Strictly Come Dancing and ex-wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood. She's giving her guide on what you need for Christmas entertaining and considers our stands a must-have item.
Slight problem in that I don't have Sky, in fact even Channel 5 is viewed through a crackly haze..so if you do get this channel, let us know how they looked please.
Christmas Sparkle
Clare and Danny have been very busy in Mile End and are still shaking the residual glitter from two unhappy cats and very sparkly children. These beautiful glitter cups will be on sale at the East London Design Show in Shoreditch this December and we hope that for £9.50 will bring a friend or much loved relly a warm vintage glow.

'Girl Power' gets Loaded
A big grin filled and hearty 'Thanks' to Eilidh, who with the help of her lovely photographer friend Andy, has sent us these wonderful pictures of a 'Let them eat cake' stand filled to bursting with lots of gorgeous cupcakes.'Girl Power' has never looked so deliciously tempting.
Eilidh can be seen below wearing a rather fetching fur hat she found down the back of the sofa at the Roseleaf pub in Edinburgh, and drinking cocktails from a teacup! A true Mad Hatters tea party which Clare and I would love have been at..will drop by when next up North.
I hope that like us, you've been inspired by these photos and won't hesitate to share your joyous cake stand moments with us too.

Hob Nobbing
Let them eat Cake stands have had a string of dazzling social engagements of late. Sixteen stands appeared laden with Caroline's sparkling cupcakes at the Acorns fundraising tea. After lots of teas, cake, wine and dancing, the total raised was in excess of £2,000. Meanwhile at Selfridges in London, our cake stands were part of the tea inspired theme for Hobbs new Autumn collection. As you can see our three cake/clothes assistants look ready and eager to assist all exhausted shoppers with a cup of tea and a dazzling smile -now that's my kind of shopping.

Time for Tea
On Friday 25th September our cake stands will be gracing the tables of the Episode hotel in Leamington Spa, for an Autumnal 'Acorns Charity Tea' organised by Liz Claiborne, my neighbour. Acorn's cares for children who are 'life-limited as well as their families, so worthy of support from the 70 tea time attendees and their purses.
We're hoping that some of those lovely ladies will buy one of our cake stands at the event. We've pledged to donate 10% from every sale to the Acorns charity and delivery it for free - that's of course only if you live in the Leamington Spa area! So I'm off now to assemble 16 cake stands and help Caroline (friend and cake maker) decorate 250 mini cupcakes with delicate sugar roses and sparkling glitter...might have to force myself to be the cake taster. Hopefully some pictures of this lovely event will appear soonish...

Read all about It!
Elsa has taken on the role of our new PR Oficer, so has designed a rather eye catching poster to let all cake stand devotees know about our new vintage cake stand collection on the 'Let them eat Cake' website. We'd love to know what you think about our new creations and our new presentation and we're always open to ideas and of course pictures of your own or our cake stands in action. Meanwhile keep baking and enjoying - cake.

Eating Cake for England
Elsa and Alice (Clare's daughters) have lots of reasons to don their England wigs and eat cake. It's been a week where we've seen the English cricket swingers make the Aussies suffer, have reached the three year point to the 2012 Olympics in better shape than expected and have received the sad news that Sir Bobby Robson has hung up his boots for good. What better reason do you need to get your cake stand out, eat cake and celebrate.

China overboard....
Glenys and Nigel have not only allowed us to build our Production HQ in their back Garden, but also (some may say madly) for Bishops Stortford to be home to our next big three day cake stand creating melee. After 15 hours, a lot of tea, several G & T's and a lot of huffin and puffin, we erected 2 gazebos and divided about 1,500 pieces of china into colour, style and set categories. At the end there was not a blade of grass in sight - just a sea of china. Midge (pet dog) was not amused.
Over the next 3 days, we mixed and mismatched and whooped with delight at some of the stunners we found. Charlotte (in the green top) friend and talented wordsmith, joined us as our guest cake stand creator and mismatcher. She put together some real beauties and surprises and helped towards creating our next 100 'Let them eat Cake' stand delights, which will be with you very soon.

Production HQ in motion
We've finally reached the point where we need to gather all our china from the far flung corners of the UK and from under our beds and put them in one place. Clare's parents (Nigel and Glenys) have kindly agreed to let us build our new production department (shed) in their lovely back garden.
Thankfully, Nigel (chief Ltec driller) and Glenys (china fiend) are well used to the mayhem, drilling and creating that goes along with this type of activity. After all, we've temporarily interrupted Nigel building a boat for the Burgess clan (Clare's family) in order to drill holes in our lovely china. Thankfully Danny (Clare's hubby) and JB (Clare's brother) were on hand to help install electricity, water and a shelving system to die for.
It's a very exciting time for us because once all our china is in one place, then we can begin the next big cake stand sort - more on that to follow.

Dreamy weekend full of cake ....paradise
Let them eat Cake stands were out and about and very busy last weekend. First stop was Paradise Gardens where the East End WI piled them high with the yummiest cakes and prettiest flowers imaginable.
Only at Paradise Gardens would you find this robotic pink creature parading the park dealing with your empties by shouting 'recycling is fun' - while striking the fear of the god into small children.
Final picture shows our chief and 1st mate plate drillers (Clare's dad and hubby) returning from a hair-raising trip on the Carters Steam Fair "Victory Dive Bomber". They both got more than they bargained for, but at the age of 79, truly a victory dive for Clare's dad.
Meanwhile I'd loaded some stands with vanilla cupcakes and chocolate dipped strawberries as my contribution to our neighbour, Lisa's garden party. The table was groaning with all the gorgeous food creations - including Caroline's famous cream and strawberry jam scones. The story goes that our hosts found the last two amidst the debris in the morning and had them for breakfast - bliss!

Cake stands in Paradise
Make sure you take yourself to the lovely E3 Victoria Park this weekend (June 20th & 21st). It's going to be magically transformed into a pleasure garden for the 21st century. It's a vibrant and exhilarating free festival and Let them eat Cake are so excited to be there - in this fantastic Spiegel tent.
The London Swing Dance Society are putting on two days of foot tapping, Lindy hopping and shim shamming dance demonstrations and classes in the Spiegel tent throughout the day.
To keep your energy levels high, the East End Women’s Institute will be offering a selection of the finest tea and cakes -all served on a vibrant selection of summer Let them eat Cake stands. Clare from Ltec will be out and about with her family on the Saturday, so should you just have to take one of our cake stands home, can help you parcel it up and send it on it's way. This is definitely one of the highlights of the summer, gutted I can't be there, so please go and enjoy on my behalf.
Sweet As
Last weekend was the infamous Leamington Peace Festival, one of the longest running free peace and equality festivals in the Uk. Amidst the hundreds of tie-dyed teenagers, bubble blowers, hoola hoopers and Action 21 Bike Doctors, you could find Jenny Hudson from www.sweet-as.co.uk. She's a magnet for all those who know about her award winning Belgian chocolates and divine wedding cakes.
Jenny kindly used our floral cake stands to display her gorgeous cookies and sweet summer delights. The hot weather and delicious tastes guaranteed that they sold out faster than she could bake them. So if you missed out on her brownies, order a Fathers day box of them online and kindly offer to help devour them.

Half Term Cocktail Launch
Well here are some of our mini 'Let them Eat Cake' team who have ditched the cake in favour of a fruit cocktail, whizzed up by Fergus (that's my boy in the glasses) and downed by his sister Erin (in the hat) and Rosy, Daniel and Joseph - who doesn't look too sure about the whole thing. In the midst of half term caous, Clare ('Let them eat Cake' of Mile End, London) and me (Carole -other half of LTEC in Leamington Spa) will be immersing ourselves in bloggers world - So raise a glass or eat a cupcake to celebrate my first little testy blog.
